Dutch Social Impact Real Estate Partnership

The Dutch Social Impact Real Estate Partnership is an exclusive investment platform for ABP and bpfBOUW, dedicated to increasing the availability of affordable and appropriate housing in the Netherlands. The Partnership combines stable financial returns with a measurable positive impact on society, particularly for middle-income households and key workers.
Year of inception 2024 | Committed capital €0.4 billion | Pipeline 2 assets
Investment strategy
The Impact Partnership focuses on new-build residential projects in urban regions with affordable rental housing, addressing the growing demand for mid-market rental homes. With a housing shortage disproportionately affecting middle-income households and key workers, our strategy ensures that underserved groups gain access to high-quality, well-located, and appropriately sized homes. By prioritizing impact over pure financial return, we invest where we can make a meaningful difference.
Aligned with Bouwinvest’s guiding principles, the Partnership integrates social impact with financial resilience. We define impact investing as delivering measurable social benefits while maintaining a stable, risk-adjusted return. Our approach targets both the quantitative shortage (adding more homes) and the qualitative mismatch (ensuring homes fit the needs of today’s households). By leveraging Bouwinvest’s extensive network and market expertise, we are well-positioned to accelerate investments and contribute to a more inclusive housing market.
