Bouwinvest stays on course towards Paris Proof 2045 and secures five-star ratings in GRESB
October 7, 2025
The Bouwinvest funds continue to make structural progress in reducing CO₂ emissions across their portfolios. With this long-term focus on embedding sustainability in the investment process, we are laying the foundation for portfolios that are resilient during the transition and oriented towards long-term value. Five funds were awarded the maximum five-star rating in the 2025 GRESB sustainability benchmark, each scoring above 90 points for the first time. This recognition applies to the Healthcare Fund, Retail Fund, Hotel Fund, Office Fund and Residential Fund.
GRESB (Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark) is the leading independent benchmark for sustainability performance in the global real estate sector. It provides investors with a standardised framework to assess and compare ESG performance, while enabling managers to identify areas for improvement and strengthen long-term value.
Bouwinvest wants its portfolios to meet the Paris climate goals and become CO₂-neutral by 2045. To achieve this, Bouwinvest works with detailed CRREM roadmaps that chart the most efficient path to fully Paris Proof portfolios. These roadmaps allow us to weigh costs, returns and effectiveness at both fund and building level, ensuring that every measure contributes to long-term value creation.
Based on these roadmaps, the funds are and will continue to take measures to structurally reduce energy consumption. Through a rolling forecast, Bouwinvest monitors progress against CRREM targets and makes adjustments where necessary. In the years ahead, additional investments and measures will further support the ambition to make the portfolios fully Paris Proof by 2045.
Timothy Prescott, Manager ESG Bouwinvest: “If we fail to act now, the costs will only rise in the future once the impact of climate change becomes unavoidable. That is why we are working towards Paris Proof portfolios by 2045. The five-star recognition in GRESB confirms that sustainability is firmly embedded in our funds and that our approach is recognised. We are determined to stay on this course, ensuring our portfolios will be Paris Proof by 2045 and continue to deliver stable, sustainable value for the investors who place their capital with us, and for the people who ultimately rely on those investments.”
