“Stadionplein Noordblok is situated by the southern access gateway to Amsterdam,” adds Allard van Spaandonk, “which makes it a perfect, sustainable addition to our residential portfolio in Amsterdam and this area."

It’s an ideal living location in Zuid, with a view of the Olympic Stadium and close to the centre and the A10 motorway”.On Bouwinvest’s instructions, the construction company M.J. de Nijs en Zonen BV of Warmenhuizen has started construction work on the northern part of the Stadionplein square. This is where Bouwinvest is developing Noordblok: homes, shops, catering establishments and an underground car park. Sebastiaan Capel (Chairman of the Executive Committee for the Zuid district), Allard van Spaandonk (Bouwinvest) and Winfred de Nijs (Director of Bouwbedrijf M.J. de Nijs en Zonen B.V.) will together install the first sheet piling on Tuesday 3 June. This will mark the start of the renovation of Stadionplein.

Noordblok Stadionplein

Noordblok will include 100 rental apartments (70 liberalised and 30 regulated rentals) plus supermarkets, various shops, catering establishments and a social business space. The Febo fast food automat is coming back to Noordblok. It has currently been relocated temporarily to Laan der Hesperiden. The underground car park will offer more than 200 parking place over two floors for the homes and shops. The building complies with the sustainability requirements of the Municipality of Amsterdam, which – like Bouwinvest – has high ambitions. The building’s energy requirement has been limited as far as possible with the use of sustainable district heating, high-quality insulation, solar panels and LED lighting. The architect is Diederik Dam of DAM & Partners Architecten. The rental homes and facilities will become an investment for Bouwinvest on behalf of the Residential Fund and the Retail Fund.

Renovation of Stadionplein completed in 2016

Noordblok is part of the total renovation of Stadionplein and delivery is expected in mid-2016. In addition to Noordblok, there will be a Zuidblok, with a hotel and culinary centre (by IQNN Vastgoed and Vink Bouw) and the Zuid district is renovating the public space.

“This is an important milestone,” says Residential Portfolio Holder Sebastiaan Capel, “After many years of planning, construction will now finally take place on Stadionplein. That will provide extra homes in the city. And there will be a great new square with shops and catering establishments. Ideal for meeting up in the city”.
