Institutional real estate investment manager Bouwinvest, has appointed Friso Berghuis as Manager Global Listed Real Estate, with effect from March 1st. He is moving from his previous role in Investor Relations and will succeed Boris van Warmerdam, who is leaving the company.

Stephen Tross, member of the Bouwinvest board responsible for International Investments said: “Friso is very qualified to meet the main challenge of his new role in expanding Bouwinvest’s global listed real estate portfolio. He was previously responsible for managing international investment mandates and creating the real estate investment strategy for our parent investor bpfBOUW, the Dutch Construction Workers Pension Fund. I’d also like to thank Boris van Warmerdam for his pivotal work in establishing our listed real estate portfolio and wish him well in his new position at Grosvenor Fund Management as Managing Director Funds Group.”

Berghuis joined Bouwinvest in 2010 as a senior Strategic Investment Advisor following a career in listed real estate investment at Dutch private bank Theodoor Gilissen Bankiers.

Bouwinvest plans to grow its total international real estate portfolio to a target €3.3 billion by 2018, from the current €2.7 billion. Real estate stocks will continue to play an important role in this growth strategy. Listed real estate investments allow access to property market and sector combinations that are difficult to access through non-listed investments. They also increase liquidity and improve the diversification and risk-return profile of a blended portfolio.
