Bouwinvest has received the ‘MSCI European Property Investment Award for best performing specialist fund in the Netherlands’ in 2020 for its Dutch Retail Fund. This is the third year in a row that the Retail Fund has achieved the highest outperformance of the MSCI-index, compared with the portfolios of all other specialist real estate funds in the Dutch market analysed by the benchmarker.

The Retail Fund achieved an annual average total return of 4.5% in the three-year period to December 2020, resulting in a relative outperformance of 4.7% over the MSCI index in 2020.

Collin Boelhouwer, Director Dutch Retail Investments, said: “By carefully building a sustainable and future-proof retail portfolio, we make a difference for our shareholders and add both financial and social value. Not only are we able to create lively areas where people like to shop, but we have now also demonstrated that we are capable of achieving an above-average performance for our retail portfolio for the third year running.”

Bouwinvest’s Dutch Retail Fund invests long term in assets in the Dutch retail real estate market on behalf of institutional investors. It has a clear strategic vision based on three distinct pillars: segmentation, optimisation and sustainability. The Fund focuses on the leading retail cities and most popular highstreets in the country  (Experience) and on neighbourhood centres for daily groceries (Convenience). The Dutch Retail Fund aims to expand its assets under management to €1.1 billion in 2022 and it is one of the most sustainable retail funds in the Netherlands, with a four-star GRESB rating.
